Coaching Batch 2 | Manufacturing Topics and Factory Tours

Our Philosophy
pass on crucial knowledge, which has and still does make our partners Hirschvogel, HOERBIGER, Max Aicher successful
knowledge is passed on by coaches, who ideally are industry veterans with decades of experience and work for one of our partners
clear focus on topics, which every manufacturing B2B company needs to address sooner or later

The startups in batch 2 got to choose from a list of 25 pre-selected topics. These topics were collected throughout the years, based on our experiences with B2B high-tech startups. We identified clear needs and challenges, which every aspiring company will face and eventually will have to master on its way to sustainable success.

Six very coherent coaching topics were selected and packed into a compact agenda.

From acquiring new customers through calculating large-scale manufactured products to making sure the needed certifications and approvals are obtained and quality standards are met.

Enriched with two guided factory tours at Hirschvogel Forging Technology in Denklingen and HOERBIGER Drive Technology in Schongau plus a keynote by Invest in Bavaria, our startups were looking forward to 1.5 days full of knowledge, insights and personal exchange.

The first part of FASTTRACK coaching took place on February 13 at Hirschvogel in Denklingen.

Quality Management

Coach: VP Corporate Quality Management, Hirschvogel
Key message: QM is not a document, it’s a holistic and quite complex process that has to be lived by each and everyone! Get started with support from third parties.

Failure-Mode-Effects-Analysis

Coach : Chief Scientific Officer, Max Aicher Group
Key message: if executed right, FMEA is a simple but very effective tool

Product Liability

Coach: Attorney at law, Hirschvogel
Key message: figure out if you have a product, be careful with insurance terms and conditions

Cost Estimates in Mass Production

Coach: VP Product Development, Hirschvogel
Key message: Excel is a sufficient tool, even for larger corporations. Don’t be fooled by your customer’s toughest negotiators

The intense first day was rounded off with a visit to a nearby steakhouse. Great food, drinks and networking among founders, coaches and employees made this a truly memorable one.

The coaching sessions resumed early the next day on February 14 at HOERBIGER in Schongau. Thomas Englmann, CEO, and Dr. Ansgar Damm, CTO, welcomed all startups with an interesting story about how they first got in contact with startups and new technologies.

To wrap up 1.5 intense days of coaching, Johanna Hebestreit and Katrin Beck from the state-sponsored agency Invest in Bavaria pointed out a vast amount of support mechanisms and possibilities especially for foreign startups, how they can settle parts of their business in Bavaria.
